A senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Er Gulam Ali Khatana, on Tuesday commended the sustained growth of the Indian economy, crediting the Modi government’s reform-oriented policies for driving transformative change across multiple sectors.
Highlighting recent developments, the MP pointed to strong momentum in India’s passenger electric vehicle market, noting that the segment grew 102 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, comfortably outpacing the broader passenger vehicle market.
Electric vehicles will likely make up 7-8 per cent of the passenger vehicle market by the end of 2026, a sign, he said, of rising demand for clean mobility options. He further welcomed the growing uptake of technology-enabled mobility, citing strong growth in connected vehicles and advanced driver-assistance systems, while noting that SUVs now make up close to 58 per cent of the passenger vehicle market.
Efficient Public Resource Management
Turning to public resource management, the MP noted that a six-year government scrap-clean-up drive has generated close to ₹6,000 crore in revenue while freeing up 12.33 crore square feet of space, calling it a reflection of the government’s focus on transparency and efficient asset use. He further pointed to improvements in citizen grievance handling through the CPGRAMS portal, where average disposal time has fallen from 28 days in 2019 to 14 days as of June 2026.
With more than one crore grievances received by the Centre since 2019, Er Gulam Ali Khatana described the quicker turnaround as evidence of the government’s commitment to responsive governance.
On agriculture and clean energy, the MP welcomed progress under the PM-KUSUM scheme, under which nearly one million standalone solar pumps have been installed, and over 1.1 million grid-connected pumps solarised, benefiting more than 21.77 lakh farmers as of December 2025. He added that the proposed PM-KUSUM 2.0, featuring a dedicated 10 GW Agri-PV component, could further help farmers become producers of clean energy and generate additional income.
Er Gulam Ali Khatana highlighted the strength of India’s capital markets. He noted that investors priced nearly $10 billion in equity deals in August 2026, making it a record month. He said strong investor participation reflected confidence in the country’s economic fundamentals.
Vision for Viksit Bharat
Summing up, the senior BJP leader said these developments show India moving steadily towards a more modern, technology-driven, sustainable and citizen-centric economy.
“From electric mobility and renewable energy to faster grievance redressal, efficient use of government resources and deepening capital markets, India’s progress is visible across sectors. The Modi government’s reforms are creating new opportunities for citizens, farmers, entrepreneurs and investors, strengthening the foundation for a developed and self-reliant India,” the MP said.
Er Gulam Ali Khatana expressed confidence that the government’s continued focus on reforms, innovation, infrastructure and inclusive development would accelerate India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat.
