BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh launched a strong counterattack against the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its leader Akhilesh Yadav, following a tweet from the SP that criticized the current administration.
Singh accused the previous SP governments of fostering corruption on a massive scale, leading to long-term damage to Uttar Pradesh’s governance.
In his response, Rajeshwar Singh highlighted several high-profile scams that allegedly took place during the SP’s rule, directly blaming the party for systemic corruption and nepotism.
Singh pointed out that the seeds of corruption planted by the SP, particularly from 2005 to 2007, have now grown into a major issue that the Yogi government is compelled to tackle.
Singh’s tweet specifically mentioned a corrupt police officer recruited in 2005, calling it a byproduct of the SP’s corrupt practices.
He further listed a series of scams, including:
- Rs 4,500 crore Cycle Track Development Scam
- Rs 4,000 crore Mining Scam
- Rs 2,500 crore LDA Land Allotment Scam
- Rs 1,500 crore State Highway Project Scam
- Rs 1,400 crore Gomti Riverfront Project Scam
- Rs 1,000 crore Health Department Scam
- Rs 800 crore Zila Panchayat Projects Scam
- Rs 300 crore Laptop Distribution Scam
Singh also referenced the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) 2018 report, which exposed a ₹97,000 crore scam involving various government schemes under the SP administration.
Singh concluded by criticising the SP’s recruitment policies, alleging that many appointees had criminal backgrounds and that nepotism was rampant.
He questioned the SP’s moral authority to criticise others when their own record is marred by corruption.
“When the darkness itself claims to be the custodian of light, who will ever see the light?” Singh remarked, summing up his condemnation of the SP’s governance model.
Akhilesh Yadav Sparks Twitter Clash
The exchange began when Akhilesh Yadav tweeted a critique of the current administration, highlighting alleged issues and shortcomings in the governance of Uttar Pradesh under the BJP.
Yadav’s tweet aimed to call out what he perceived as failures in law enforcement and public administration, setting the stage for a heated political exchange.
In response, BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh launched a pointed rebuttal, accusing the previous SP governments of widespread corruption and mismanagement.
Singh’s detailed response included a series of high-profile scams and alleged corrupt practices that he claimed were the real cause of the state’s ongoing challenges.
With both leaders trading barbs on social media, the political battle between the BJP and SP continues to escalate, reflecting the intensifying rivalry as they vie for public support in the lead-up to the next election.
