Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, the IAS officer who captured a silver medal at the Paris Paralympic Games and became a world champion in badminton, recently arrived in Lucknow, where he met with MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh at the airport.
Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and MLA from Sarojininagar, congratulated Yathiraj on his remarkable achievement and expressed his wishes for his continued success. He shared a picture of their meeting on X.com, stating, “Mr. Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj has brought glory to our country by winning the silver medal in the Paralympics. He is our youth icon. His determination, focus, and hard work are qualities that the younger generation should adopt.”
In his post, Dr. Singh also highlighted Yathiraj’s recent appointment as the Secretary of the Sports Department, adding, “Our Uttar Pradesh is proud of his achievement. May God always support him in all his efforts!”
A Journey of Resilience and Achievement
Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, who hails from Karnataka, won the silver medal last month at the Paris Paralympics, contributing to India’s tally of 13 medals at the event. As an IAS officer in the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Yathiraj currently serves as the Secretary and Director General of Youth Welfare and the Provincial Guard Force of the Uttar Pradesh Government. He has also held the position of District Magistrate in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Prayagraj.
Born in Shigoma, Karnataka, Suhas faced challenges from birth due to a leg disability. Despite these obstacles, he initially had no aspirations of becoming an IAS officer, instead nurturing a passion for sports from a young age. His journey reflects resilience and dedication, inspiring many in the process.
