The BJP on Monday welcomed the latest revision in GST rates, describing it as a ‘very big gift’ from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Indians ahead of the Diwali festival.
Party leaders hailed the move as a significant relief for citizens, reducing financial burdens and combating inflation, while encouraging support for domestic products under the ‘Swadeshi’ initiative.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta told the news agency, “We appeal to our citizens to support Swadeshi. Prime Minister Modi’s gift has made everyone happy. The benefits of the next-generation GST are directly reaching every citizen of the country.”
BJP MLA Ram Kadam added, “Even before Diwali, PM Modi has eased the financial burden on households by reducing GST on many products.”
Traders & Consumers Welcome the Move
Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma noted that traders and consumers have reacted positively to the reforms.
“Shopkeepers and customers are very pleased. PM Modi has provided considerable relief through GST reductions on several products. We are also promoting the ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi’ campaign, which will create jobs for youth. The positive impact will be visible in the coming years,” he said.
Other BJP leaders echoed the sentiment. MLA Kirori Lal Meena stated that the relief would significantly support citizens and ease inflationary pressures.
Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane described the decision as ‘timely and visionary’, noting it will strengthen domestic markets and boost economic confidence, while contributing to a self-reliant India.
BJP MLA Ashok Mohanty highlighted the benefits for the middle class, saying the rationalised GST slabs fulfil a long-standing demand to simplify taxation.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai added, “Every day essentials will now be more affordable and easily available, greatly reducing the burden on the poor and middle class.”
Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stated that the GST reforms aim to simplify the tax system while empowering society economically, marking a milestone in India’s journey toward financial inclusivity and growth.
