BJP Faces Blow As Veteran MLA Brahm Singh Tanwar Joins AAP Ahead Of Delhi Elections

In a surprising turn of events, Brahm Singh Tanwar, a seasoned politician and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, has officially aligned himself with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The announcement was made at a press conference on Thursday, marking a significant shift in the political dynamics of the region.

Tanwar’s defection to AAP is particularly noteworthy as it follows the recent exit of another prominent figure, Kartar Singh Tanwar, who left the AAP to join the BJP just four months ago.

This latest move signals potential challenges for the BJP as it seeks to maintain its influence in the Chhatarpur constituency, where Tanwar has previously served.

At the AAP headquarters, Arvind Kejriwal, the party’s National Convenor, warmly welcomed Tanwar and praised his extensive political experience and long-standing dedication to the people of Delhi.

Kejriwal stated, “Brahm Singh Tanwar, a respected figure in Delhi’s politics, has joined the AAP today. He has represented Chhatarpur and Mehrauli as an MLA and has served the people of Delhi for nearly 50 years, both in power and in the Opposition. His role in Delhi’s development is commendable. Today, he has left the BJP and joined AAP.”

Frustrated With Party Dynamics; Tanwar Seeks New Path To Serve Delhi

Tanwar, who has represented both Chhatarpur and Mehrauli as an MLA, shared his reasons for the switch, expressing a strong admiration for Kejriwal’s vision and commitment to community service.

Tanwar told IANS, “I was fed up with certain people. When I realised I couldn’t achieve my goals from that platform, I decided to pursue them from here.”

While Tanwar refrained from naming specific colleagues, he did mention that frustrations with certain party dynamics contributed to his decision.

“I decided, rather than engage in conflict, I would simply change my path,” he added, emphasizing his intent to focus on service for his constituents.

Tanwar confirmed his ambition to run in the upcoming elections, stating, “I have to serve my region. If it can’t happen from that platform, then I’ll do it from this one.”
