The atmosphere at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters is filled with jubilation following the party’s historic win in the Delhi Assembly elections of 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing party workers, while key party leaders such as Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman are also present at the headquarters. Amit Shah honored Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva by draping him in a shawl in recognition of his leadership.

PM Modi Describes Victory as One of Development and Good Governance

After the election results were announced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his joy on social media. On platform X, Modi referred to the win as a historic mandate from the people of Delhi. He wrote, “People power is paramount! Development wins, good governance wins. I salute my dear brothers and sisters of Delhi for this magnificent and historic mandate. We are deeply honored and privileged to receive these blessings.”

He further assured the people of Delhi, stating, “We guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned in the development of Delhi, improving the overall quality of life for its people, and ensuring that Delhi plays a major role in the creation of a developed India.”

BJP Wins 48 Seats With 71% Strike Rate

The BJP contested 68 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections and secured an impressive victory, winning 48 seats with a strike rate of 71%. In contrast, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced a setback, losing 40 seats and recording a strike rate of just 31%. BJP also saw a 9% increase in its vote share, while AAP experienced a 10% decline. Although Congress did not win any seats, it saw a 2% rise in its vote share.

BJP Makes A Comeback After 27 Years

This victory marks BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years. The last time the party secured a clear majority was in 1993 when it won 53 seats under the leadership of prominent figures like Madan Lal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma, and Sushma Swaraj. The current win is being seen as a fresh political beginning for the BJP.

BJP’s triumph in Delhi is expected to have a significant impact on national politics as well. While the party suffered a loss in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, this assembly win marks a major turnaround.
