BJP Announces New National Team Under Nitin Nabin; Smriti Irani, Biplab Deb Get Key Roles

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday announced its new national team under president Nitin Nabin, bringing experienced leaders and fresh faces into key organisational positions.

The BJP appointed former Union Minister Smriti Irani and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb as national general secretaries. Smriti Irani will oversee Uttar Pradesh.

The new team includes eight national general secretaries.

Alongside Smriti Irani and Deb, the list, however, features Sunil Bansal, Vinod Tawde, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia.

BL Santhosh will continue as National General Secretary (Organisation).

The BJP appointed Shivprakash and Saudan Singh as national joint general secretaries (Organisation).

The BJP has named 13 national vice presidents. The group, however, includes former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda, D Purandeshwari and Rekha Verma.

Other vice presidents include Varshaben Doshi, Bharti Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, M Nagaraja, Tariq Mansoor and Madhuchandra Kar.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has, however, been appointed national treasurer.

The party has selected 16 national secretaries, including former AAP leader Sandeep Pathak, Anil Antony and Rohan Gupta.

The reshuffle comes after Nabin took charge as BJP national president and reflects an organisational restructuring combining continuity with new leadership.
