Bihar Launches MBBS In Hindi Next Session

The Bihar government has announced that starting next academic session, it will offer the MBBS course in Hindi, according to State Health Minister Mangal Pandey.

This move will make Bihar the second state in India, after Madhya Pradesh, to provide medical education in Hindi.

“The Health Department of Bihar, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has made this historic decision after extensive discussions on essential aspects, including the availability of Hindi textbooks for the MBBS course. This step is in line with the government’s objective of promoting Hindi and elevating its status globally,” Pandey stated.

The new initiative is based on the recommendations of a nine-member committee and will follow the AIIMS Delhi syllabus for students who clear the NEET-UG 2024.

Students will have the option to study in either Hindi or English. The aim is to simplify medical education and support meritorious students from Hindi-medium backgrounds.

Bihar has around 85,000 government schools, where Hindi is the primary medium of instruction.
