A case of negligence in Bihar has surfaced, revealing an unsettling incident at a hospital in Jamui. Due to a scarcity of proper medical equipment, hospital personnel resorted to using a Sprite bottle as a makeshift substitute for a urine bag for a patient.
The incident transpired on a Monday evening when a patient was admitted to Sadar Hospital. After a medical assessment, the doctor directed the hospital staff to provide the patient with a urinary catheter bag, along with administering injections and a resuscitation oxygen tube.
However, due to a lack of the necessary equipment and medications, the hospital staff improvised by attaching a Sprite bottle instead of a proper urine bag, jeopardizing the patient’s well-being.

Despite the patient’s family attempting to contact the hospital manager, Ramesh Pandey, their efforts were in vain. Only on Tuesday morning, upon being informed of the situation, were the required supplies, including a proper urinal bag, finally arranged.
In his defence, Ramesh Pandey stated that he was uninformed about the shortage of urinal bags due to his own leg fracture. He asserted that as soon as he was made aware of the situation, he swiftly organized the necessary supplies to rectify the issue.
