The Bihar government has launched a departmental inquiry into 36 officers from the Land Reforms and Revenue Department following multiple complaints of irregularities and corruption in the mutation of lands, flats, and other properties.
Confirming the development, Dilip Jaiswal, the Minister for Land Reforms and Revenue, stated, “We have received numerous complaints against Circle Officers (CO) and their subordinates regarding their alleged involvement in corruption and irregularities. Therefore, we have initiated a departmental inquiry against 36 officers and have already taken action against some of them.”
In response to the findings of the inquiry, Jaiswal announced immediate measures.
He stated, “As a result of the investigation, we have ordered the suspension of Circle Officer Prince Raj and initiated departmental actions against Prabhash Narayan Lal, who has since retired. Additionally, subordinate officers implicated in irregularities related to land mutation have also faced suspension.”
The Minister emphasized the seriousness of the issue, mentioning, “The department will conduct thorough investigations into the properties of the accused officers. If necessary, we will seek assistance from the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) to ensure a comprehensive inquiry.”
This move by the Bihar government underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability within administrative bodies, particularly in crucial departments managing land and revenue reforms.
