Welcoming the Union Budget, Professor Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU, stated that the Rs 1.48 lakh crore allocation for education, employment, and skill development will help the rural and middle class envision a better future. This funding will aid in developing youth for better careers and help the nation achieve ‘Amrit Kaal’ soon. The increased education budget will boost our university’s efforts to combine skill development with higher education. Skill building and practical experience are our university’s strengths, and this decision will support our introduction of many new skill courses this year.
The new scheme to skill 20 lakh youth over the next five years will support the ‘Make in India’ initiative and enhance global competitiveness. The revised skilling loan scheme, offering loans up to Rs 7.5 lakh, will help many underprivileged youth pursue higher education. Government support for loans up to Rs 10 lakh for higher education in domestic institutions will benefit many more needy students.
The upgrade of 1,000 ITIs to a hub-and-spoke model over five years will boost skill development. The Prime Minister’s Internship Programme complements our ‘Vice Chancellor Internship Programme,’ where we engage students with a minimum stipend.
