Bhopal To Host BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting From August 6

Bhopal will host the third BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting and the BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting from Wednesday. The event will bring together delegates from BRICS member and partner countries to strengthen cultural cooperation.

The Union Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Madhya Pradesh government, is organising the conference under India’s BRICS Presidency.

The event will conclude on August 8 with the adoption of the BRICS Culture Ministers’ Declaration, outlining the future roadmap for cultural cooperation.

Union Culture Secretary Vivek Agrawal said delegations would begin arriving on Wednesday.

The opening day will focus on registration, accreditation, bilateral meetings, and exhibition visits before formal deliberations commence.

Delegates will also visit the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, where they will experience traditional craft demonstrations, tribal heritage displays and a cultural performance.

Three major exhibitions, Gyan Bharatam, Project Mausam and Project Brihattar Bharat, will open at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre (Minto Hall). The public can visit the exhibitions throughout the conference.

According to Agrawal, the exhibitions will highlight India’s manuscript heritage, maritime history, and enduring civilisational links.

The Culture Working Group will meet on August 6 to finalise the draft declaration. It will also discuss heritage conservation, museums, cultural industries, capacity building and people-to-people exchanges.

The recommendations will then be presented to the Culture Ministers on August 8.

The conference will also host the BRICS Cultural Festival.

More than 125 artists will present ‘BRICS Peace Song: Peace is the Language of the Land’ and ‘Amritasya Madhya Pradesh’.

Madhya Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Culture) Shiv Shekhar Shukla confirmed that authorities have completed all preparations. He said the state is fully ready to host the BRICS cultural event.

After the Ministerial meeting, delegates will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sanchi on August 8. They may also visit the Bhimbetka Rock Shelters on August 9.
