Bharat Mandapam's Spectacular 'Culture Corridor' Showcases Cultural Diversity

G20 Summit Culture Corridor: India successfully concluded the G20 Summit on Sunday as host nation. This event saw participation from countries worldwide and resulted in agreements on various issues over its two-day duration. Additionally, one noteworthy aspect that captured the attention of not only G20 member countries but also invited nations was the ‘Cultural Corridor – G20 Digital Museum,’ launched from the grand stage of the India Pavilion during the G20 Summit. This unique exhibition represents the shared heritage of G20 member nations and 9 invited countries.

The Culture Corridor is not just an exhibition; it serves as a powerful platform for enhancing understanding, celebrating diverse cultural expressions, sharing knowledge, promoting inclusivity, and equality. Aligned with India’s G20 theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and the key campaign of the Culture Working Group (CWG) – ‘Culture Unites All,’ the inauguration of the Culture Corridor took place on September 9, 2023.

India – Ashtadhyayi Manuscript

A Pandulipi of the Ashtadhyayi, a grammar text composed by the renowned grammarian Panini in the 6th century BCE. It showcases the science of Vedic phonetics and grammar and hints at computer programming dating back more than two millennia.

Indonesia – Batik Sarong Textiles

Batik clothing holds unique cultural significance, involving a process of applying melted wax to fabric to create intricate patterns. Indonesia’s Batik heritage spans across various regions and was recognized by UNESCO as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”

Brazil – National Congress Building Model

The National Parliament Palace from Brasília was exhibited at the India Pavilion during the G20 Summit. It was designed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer.
