A significant seminar on ‘Atmanirbhar Shekhawati’ was organised at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University in Sikar. Bharat Express News Network CMD Upendra Rai attended as the chief guest and inaugurated the Skill Development Centre, Entrepreneurship Centre, and Talent Nurturing (Incubation) Centre.
The event also witnessed the presence of Dharmendra Singh Shekhawat, Director on the Central Board of State Bank of India, and Om Prakash Sharma from Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas.
Industrialists, public representatives, and intellectuals participated actively. An exhibition showcased regional startups and handicrafts and drew considerable attention, while students enthusiastically responded to CMD Rai’s address, which organisers also broadcast live.
CMD Upendra Rai encouraged young people to embrace self-reliance and reflect on India’s identity. He described Gautama Buddha as the soul of India, stating that the nation’s global recognition is closely linked to his teachings. He added that despite attempts to diminish his legacy, Buddha’s philosophy continues to command respect worldwide and symbolises India’s core values.
Learn from Struggles and Move Forward
CMD Rai urged students to move beyond restrictive traditions and foster originality. He emphasised that true recognition comes from challenging conventions and developing one’s own identity.
Without originality, he noted, individuals remain confined by fear and cannot progress. He cited figures such as Kabir and Gautama Buddha as examples of individuals who rose through determination and resilience.
CMD Rai praised the Marwari community for its spirit of self-reliance, highlighting its contributions to the construction of dharamshalas and religious institutions across India. He stated that if the youth of Shekhawati adopt similar values, they can emerge as role models for the country.
CMD Rai encouraged students to prioritise entrepreneurship over job-seeking, stressing that integrating education with enterprise is essential for regional development.
Discussions at the seminar focused on Shekhawati’s role in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047. The event featured exhibitions on startups, innovation, handicrafts, and emerging industrial projects.
With around 575 affiliated colleges and nearly 350,000 students, the university is implementing postgraduate education in line with the National Education Policy 2020, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and skill development.
