In a momentous event marking the culmination of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra during a grand oath-taking ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan today.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of key political leaders, dignitaries, and enthusiastic supporters, underscoring the significance of this electoral triumph.
After assuming office, Fadnavis received warm congratulations from several political figures and well-wishers.

Maharashtra CM Oath Taking Ceremony
On December 5, 2024, Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time, with Governor CP Radhakrishnan administering the oath. Former Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers in the Fadnavis-led council of ministers.
The grand event, held in Mumbai, marked Fadnavis’ third term as Chief Minister.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari were among the prominent attendees at the swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday.
Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath to Fadnavis at a ceremony attended by a galaxy of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, and BJP President JP Nadda.
Industry stalwarts like Mukesh Ambani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Anil Ambani, and Deepak Parekh graced the occasion alongside Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Madhuri Dixit. Consul Generals of various countries were also present, reflecting the significance of the event on a global stage.
Moreover, with over 40,000 attendees, the ceremony further underscored the strong support for Fadnavis as he embarks on his “3.0 innings” as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister. The Fadnavis-led government expect to expand its cabinet on December 11 or 12, ahead of the winter session of the state legislature commencing on December 16 in Nagpur.
Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024
The 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election on November 20, 2024, to elect all 288 members of the state’s Legislative Assembly. The voter turnout was 66.05%, the highest since 1995.
The ruling Maha Yuti alliance achieved a landslide victory, securing 235 seats. Notably, none of the parties in the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance won the necessary number of seats to obtain the position of Leader of Opposition, a first in six decades.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party within the alliance, winning 132 seats.
