In a vibrant display of affection and anticipation, school students from across Bengaluru gathered at the city’s railway station on Sunday to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Carrying hand-drawn sketches and portraits of the Prime Minister, the young participants expressed their joy at receiving a rare chance to see him in person.
The Prime Minister’s visit marks the inauguration of the highly anticipated Yellow Line Metro and the launch of the Vande Bharat train service in Karnataka, two significant projects aimed at transforming connectivity in the state.
The Yellow Line will link Electronics City, a major technology hub, with central Bengaluru, while the Vande Bharat service will connect Bengaluru to Belagavi in north Karnataka.
Many of the students described the moment as once-in-a-lifetime.
One student, holding a detailed sketch of the Prime Minister, said, “I am feeling very excited and grateful to have got this opportunity to meet our Prime Minister. I would like to thank the Indian Railways for giving us such a chance. PM Modi is very hardworking and treats everyone equally. The country loves him.”
Another participant, proudly displaying a coloured portrait, remarked, “We are getting this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the Prime Minister, and we are very happy. He is my ideal politician. From education to defence, the Prime Minister has taken us forward in every field. He is also the second-longest serving Prime Minister, and we are thrilled to meet him.”
A third student, who had painted an image of the Vande Bharat Express, expressed appreciation for the modern train service. “Vande Bharat is a very good train, and we thank the Prime Minister for gifting this to Bengaluru. I have come here to express my gratitude through my artwork,” they said.
The Karnataka Police Department has intensified security across Bengaluru, deploying more than 10,000 personnel for the Prime Minister’s engagements.
Barricades and over 50 check posts have been set up, with vehicle checks already in progress. Security is especially tight at the RV Road Bommasandra Metro Line and Majestic Railway Station, key venues for the day’s events.
BJP flags and banners now line the Prime Minister’s route. Thousands of party workers will gather at key points, including Mekhri Circle, Chalukya Circle, Kanteerava Sangolli Rayanna Circle, South End Circle, Ragigudda, and Electronics City, to greet him with chants and applause.
Residents charged the city’s atmosphere with excitement as they prepared to witness the launch of projects promising faster, more comfortable travel. The Yellow Line Metro will ease congestion and reduce commuting times for thousands of tech workers, while the Vande Bharat service will enhance intercity connectivity.
The students’ heartfelt welcome adds a personal and emotional dimension to what is primarily an infrastructural milestone. Their portraits and sketches symbolise both admiration for the Prime Minister’s leadership and optimism for the country’s future.
With art in their hands and anticipation in their hearts, Bengaluru’s youth are making sure that PM Modi’s visit is not only historic in terms of development but also memorable for its warmth and sincerity.
