Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has arrived in New Delhi ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, marking her presence as one of the distinguished guests for the event.
Hasina’s visit underscores the strong bilateral ties between Bangladesh and India.
On Saturday afternoon, Muktesh Pardeshi, the Ministry of External Affairs’ Secretary overseeing consular, passport, visa, and overseas Indian affairs, warmly received Sheikh Hasina upon her arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed optimism about the visit. The Ministry highlighted the significance of strengthening the close and deep-rooted bonds of friendship between India and Bangladesh.

She stood out as one of the earliest foreign leaders to offer congratulations to Prime Minister Modi in the wake of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance’s triumph in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

“The visit of the leaders to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third consecutive term is in keeping with the highest priority accorded by India to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘SAGAR’ (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision,” the MEA stated, reaffirming India’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation and inclusive growth.
