Priests ceremoniously opened the sacred portals of Shri Badrinath Dham in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, at 6 AM on Sunday, marking a spiritually momentous occasion in the annual Char Dham Yatra.
Pilgrims from India and abroad gathered in large numbers to witness the auspicious rituals.
Chants of ‘Jai Badri Vishal’ echoed through the Himalayan air.
The Garhwal Rifles band of the Indian Army enhanced the event with devotional music. Their performance deepened the spiritual atmosphere.
Adding to the sanctity, helicopters showered flower petals on the crowd of devotees assembled outside the revered temple.
A Divine Start To The Final Leg
With Badrinath reopened, all four Char Dham shrines—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—are now fully accessible to devotees.
The pilgrimage, which officially began on April 30 with the opening of Yamunotri and Gangotri on Akshaya Tritiya, is now in full swing.
On May 2, the Kedarnath Temple also welcomed pilgrims with grandeur and deep religious fervour.
Now that Badrinath has reopened, lakhs of devotees are beginning their spiritually significant journey rooted in the Sanatan Dharma tradition.
CM Dhami Joins Pilgrims
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present at Badrinath to offer prayers and interact warmly with pilgrims.
He shared heartfelt messages on social media, describing the temple as ‘Bhu-Vaikunth’-an earthly manifestation of Lord Vishnu’s celestial abode.

In another message, CM Dhami urged people to visit ‘Devbhoomi’- the Land of the Gods, and partake in the spiritual energy of the Char Dham Yatra. “Every particle here is divine, every rock echoes the presence of Shri Hari,” he wrote.
