Delhi’s Talkatora Indoor Stadium turned devotional on Monday as North-East Delhi MP and popular folk singer Manoj Tiwari performed at Badariya: A Monsoon Farewell Festival 2026. He opened with chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and enthralled thousands with the Bhojpuri devotional song Nimiya Ke Daar.
Manoj Tiwari urged the audience to switch on their mobile flashlights, creating a striking sea of lights inside the stadium.
During his performance, Manoj Tiwari asked how many people understood Bhojpuri. The crowd responded enthusiastically. He then sang ‘Mayariya Mori Jhuleli Nimiya Ke Daar Ho’, followed by traditional lines linking Sawan-Bhadon with goddess worship.
Manoj Tiwari became emotional while performing. He revealed that his late elder brother taught him the song and passed away on August 22. He dedicated the rendition to his brother’s memory and the goddess.
Manoj Tiwari praised Bharat Express CMD and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai, calling him a ‘pride of Bhojpuri soil’. He further lauded Foundation founder Brijesh Rai for envisioning Badariya and praised the Mata Chakeri Devi Foundation and Delhi Government’s Maithili-Bhojpuri Academy.
Senior Delhi BJP leader Harsh Malhotra, organisation general secretary Pawan Rana, former mayor Pravesh Wahi, Standing Committee chairperson Satya Sharma, MLAs, Foundation president Yogita Singh, founder Brijesh Rai and trustees attended.
Badariya began at Central Park, Connaught Place, on September 1, 2025, with CM Rekha Gupta and Cultural Minister Kapil Mishra attending.
After its successful debut, the 2026 edition expanded to Talkatora Stadium.
More than 20 prominent artists, including Malini Awasthi, Priya Mallik, Chandan Tiwari, Rishi Singh, Samriddh Pathak and Satvik Pathak, performed.
