The renaming comes in anticipation of the inauguration of the newly constructed Ayodhya airport and railway station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30. Adding to the historic significance, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to install the Ram idol in the Ayodhya temple on January 22, 2024, marking the culmination of over 700 years of disputed history.

The ongoing construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is progressing in phases across a vast expanse of 71 acres. The first phase focuses on the ground floor of the temple, where the consecration of Ram Lalla will take place. This involves the construction of the sanctum sanctorum and various mandaps. The completed temple will span three floors, featuring murals, iconography, and engravings on approximately 360 pillars, each adorned with 25 to 30 figures.

The final phase of the project, slated for completion in December 2025, will witness the creation of the Parkota or Parikrama Marg. This area will showcase murals in bronze, seven temples of Saptarishis, auditoriums, administrative buildings, and more.
