Ayodhya is making elaborate preparations for the visit of President Droupadi Murmu on March 19, with the city decorated and security tightened ahead of the high-profile event.
Authorities have adorned roads leading to the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple with saffron flags and banners, while visuals across the city display images of PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath alongside the President.
District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde said officials are working to ensure a smooth and hassle-free event.
Authorities will suspend VIP darshan during the President’s visit but allow general devotees access outside restricted hours to minimise inconvenience.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover confirmed that officials have finalised detailed security arrangements covering the President’s arrival, route and stay, ensuring smooth movement and public safety.
During her visit, President Murmu will perform key rituals at the temple, install the Shri Ram Yantra, and participate in Vedic ceremonies led by priest Ganeshwar Shastri. She will also honour around 400 workers who contributed to the temple’s construction and hoist a flag within the complex.
Her convoy is expected to reach the temple at around 11 AM, with the visit scheduled to last nearly four hours.
Authorities have made extensive arrangements for security, transport and seating for around 5,000 special guests attending the event.
Following the programme, the temple trust plans to expand access to additional shrines through a pass-based system, allowing about 5,000 devotees daily.
Ayodhya continues to see a steady rise in pilgrim footfall, reinforcing its growing status as a major religious destination.
