Anticipated to be completed prior to Ram Temple’s inauguration, the Ayodhya airport promises to be a feat of architecture in and of itself. Upon initial inspection, the airport currently under construction appears to be a reflection of the city’s rich cultural legacy. The airport’s design, which was constructed at an expense of ₹ 250 crores, was influenced by Nagara temple architecture. Ayodhya’s two-story airport appears appropriately designed, with pillars carved with images drawn from the Hindu epic Ramayana.
The airport’s main entrance will feature a grand stepped “shikar,” which is a temple’s highest elevated structure. Scriptures will be used to outline the entire airport, and the massive columns supporting the terminal roof will represent the major events, or “Kandas,” of the Ramayana. The airport will be the ideal fusion of Ayodhya’s rich culture and contemporary amenities with its symbolic design.
The airport in Ayodhya, to be named Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, will be able to handle four aircraft movements per hour during peak hours and accommodate over 750 passengers.
The building of the Ram temple is expected to boost Ayodhya’s tourism. PM Modi will inaugurate the Ram temple on January 22 of next year. The airport in Ayodhya will handle the increase in visitors to the city.
