On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that despite attempts to obstruct festivals like Holi, Diwali, and Maha Kumbh, these traditions have continued without interruption.
Speaking at a Holi Milan event in Gorakhpur, CM Yogi remarked that the nation endured centuries of slavery and saw its faith repeatedly challenged by invaders.
Without naming any specific entities, UP CM stated, “The country has suffered slavery for a long time. It has suffered slavery for hundreds of years and has seen faith hurt by invaders. The country has seen how forces try to stop festivals like Holi and Diwali and obstruct events like Maha Kumbh, but no one has been able to stop this tradition; it is continuing uninterrupted.”
“On the occasion of the holy festival of Holi, at Gorakhnath Mandir, participated in the Holi Milan function organized in the campus. Those who always propagate that Sanatan Dharma is divided in the name of caste, in the name of religion and sect, in the name of region and language, after Maha Kumbh, Holi has also given them an answer. Today every follower of Sanatan Dharma is hugging each other, applying colours and gulal, this is our strength,” CM Yogi Adityanath posted on X.

Controversy Over Holi Celebrations
His remarks followed recent controversy after West Bengal Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, alleged that the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government had imposed restrictions on Holi celebrations at Santiniketan’s Sonajhuri Haat.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister emphasized that India’s progress depends on national unity.
He asserted that a united nation can achieve development, and no global force could hinder India’s path to becoming a developed country.
“Sanatan Dharma has only one proclamation, and that proclamation is that where there is Dharma, there will be victory. Modi has given a resolution of developed India to the country. India can develop only through unity; with unity, it will excel, and as the best, no global power can hinder its progress toward development. Therefore, dedicate all efforts to the nation. The message of Holi is simple: this country will remain united only through unity,” UP CM noted.
CM Yogi Adityanath further emphasized that Sanatan Dharma embodies unwavering faith, with its soul deeply rooted in festivals that unite people.
To mark the beginning of the Holi celebrations, CM Yogi also performed puja and aarti at the Holika Dahan site within the Gorakhnath temple premises.
