In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam police have confiscated a substantial quantity of highly addictive methamphetamine tablets valued at Rs 9 crore and arrested a drug peddler from the Cachar district. The operation, which took place on Saturday night, was prompted by confidential intelligence.

In response to the successful operation, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to commend the police for their relentless efforts in the fight against drug abuse and their commitment to a drug-free Assam.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the seized drugs were smuggled from Myanmar and were intended to be distributed to various regions across the country via Assam. The police are continuing their efforts to dismantle the broader network involved in the trafficking of these narcotics.
