Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian athletes Gulveer Singh, Pooja and the men’s and women’s 4×400m relay teams after their medal-winning performances at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
In a post shared by the PMO India, PM Modi congratulated Gulveer Singh on winning bronze in the men’s 5000m. He described it as a ‘remarkable hat-trick of podium finishes’ and praised the athlete’s consistency, endurance and determination.
Gulveer had earlier won silver medals in the 10,000m and 1500m, making him the first Indian athlete in 40 years to win three medals at a single Asian Games.

PM Modi also congratulated Pooja on winning bronze in the women’s high jump. He described the achievement as a proud moment for Indian athletics and noted that it was India’s first medal in the event at the Asian Games in more than two decades.

The Prime Minister also praised the men’s 4×400m relay team of Dharmveer Choudhary, Manu TS, Jay Kumar and Vishal TK after they won bronze with a season-best time of 3:01.61. He expressed hope that their success would contribute to the popularity of athletics in the years ahead.

PM Modi further congratulated Kiran Pahal, Poovamma MR, Prachi and Vithya Ramraj after they won gold in the women’s 4×400m relay. He praised their speed, determination and teamwork after they finished in 3:29.69.

The mixed 4×100m team secured bronze in a national-record 41.06 seconds, adding to a strong showing by Indian athletics at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
