Asian Games 2026: PM Modi Congratulates Antim Panghal, Women’s Golf Team On Silver Medals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated wrestler Antim Panghal and India’s women’s golf team after they won silver medals at the 2026 Asian Games, praising their performances, determination and commitment to sport.

In a post on X, PM Modi described Antim’s silver medal in the women’s 53kg freestyle wrestling event as ‘exemplary’. He congratulated her for the performance and wished her continued success, while hoping she would motivate other athletes.

Antim became the only Indian woman wrestler to win a medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. She improved on the bronze she won at the Hangzhou Asian Games after losing 1-9 to Japan’s Moe Kiyooka, the 2024 world champion in the 55kg category, in the final.

In another post, PM Modi congratulated Aditi Ashok, Pranavi Sharath Urs and Diksha Dagar for winning silver in the women’s team golf event. He praised their determination and passion and wished them greater success in the future.

The silver was India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the women’s team golf event.

Pranavi added to the historic campaign by winning individual gold, finishing on 15-under 265 after carding an even-par 70 in the final round at Kasugai Country Club East Course.

Pranavi’s contribution helped India finish the team event on 14-under 546.

Aditi placed 14th individually at 2-over 282, while Diksha finished joint 23rd at 7-over 79 on the final day.

Antim’s silver and the women’s golf team’s historic medal added to India’s medal tally at Aichi-Nagoya, with PM Modi’s messages highlighting the athletes’ determination and sporting excellence.
