Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Indian archers Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi after the trio won gold in the women’s compound team event at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday.
In a post shared by the PMO India, PM Modi congratulated the three archers on their gold-medal victory and highlighted that their performance also equalled the world record. He described the achievement as a tremendous moment for Indian archery and wished the team success in its future competitions.

Shah also congratulated the Indian women’s compound archery team, praising its focus, determination and ability to perform under pressure.

India defeated South Korea in the semi-final before overcoming China 238-234 in the final at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square.
The winning score equalled the world record set by South Korea at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
The victory allowed India to retain the women’s compound team gold and added a record-equalling performance to the country’s Asian Games campaign.
