Railways, I&B, and Electronics/IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has taken aim at opposition parties, stating that everyone is aware of the truth of the production of telecom, electronics, and mobile phones, “except those who don’t like our country’s progress.”
“Guess who else, apart from Congress, doesn’t like our country emerging as a manufacturer of mobile phones and telecom equipment?”, Minister, in a post on platform X said.

“In 2023-24, Bharat produced 33 crore phones and exported close to 5 crore mobile phones,” the Ashwini Vaishnav added.
India had always wanted to manufacture telecom equipment, and the production-linked incentive (PLI) made it possible.
Sales of telecom equipment have already exceeded Rs 50,000 crore, generating over 17,800 direct jobs and countless more indirect jobs.
The Minister informed that within three years of the telecom PLI plan, the export of telecom equipment had surpassed Rs 10,500 crore.
The entire value of goods exported (including mobile phones and telecom equipment combined) is over Rs 1.49 lakh crore, compared to imports of over Rs 1.53 lakh crore in FY 23–24, indicating a significant decline in the difference between telecom imports and exports.
