Annie Raja, a candidate from the Communist Party of India, is scheduled to file her nomination papers on Wednesday. Raja is running for the Lok Sabha seat representing the Wayanad constituency.
Her nomination comes the same day when Congress candidate and sitting MP, Rahul Gandhi is also slated to file his nomination.
Despite being partners in the opposition INDIA bloc, the CPI and the Congress are fierce contenders in Kerala. Both parties field their strongest candidates against each other in the electoral arena of the state.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi will also submit his nomination papers for the Wayanad constituency after hosting a rally in Kalpetta town. This marks the commencement of his electoral campaign in the region.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhi secured 706,367 votes from Wayanad, capturing a significant 64.7% vote share. The CPI candidate, PP Suneer, who finished second, received 274,597 votes, securing a vote share of 25.1%.
