Renowned poet Anamika Jain Ambar was honoured with the prestigious Neeraj Samman during a grand cultural evening organised in Mumbai to commemorate the eighth death anniversary of legendary Hindi poet and lyricist Gopaldas ‘Neeraj’.
The award recognised her significant contribution to Hindi literature and poetry while celebrating the enduring legacy of one of India’s most admired literary icons.
Jointly organised by Bharat Express News Network and the Mahakavi Gopaldas Neeraj Foundation Trust, ‘Ek Shaam, Neeraj Ke Naam’ at Mumbai’s Rang Sharda Auditorium honoured Gopaldas ‘Neeraj’ through music and poetry, with Anamika Jain Ambar receiving the prestigious Neeraj Samman for her contribution to Hindi literature.
The honour recognised outstanding contributions to Hindi poetry.
Bharat Express CMD and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai attended as Patron, while Neeraj’s son, Mrigank Prabhakar, organised the event.
The evening featured musical tributes celebrating Neeraj’s enduring literary and cinematic legacy. His immortal creations, including Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe, Karvan Guzar Gaya, Shokhiyon Mein Ghola Jaye and Khilte Hain Gul Yahan, continue to resonate across generations.
According to the organisers, CMD Upendrra Rai shared a close personal bond with Gopaldas ‘Neeraj’, whom he regarded as his mentor.
Bharat Express has continued to honour the legendary poet through initiatives such as the annual Neeraj Samman Samaroh and Kavyanjali, ensuring that his literary and cultural legacy remains alive.
Born on 4 January 1925 in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, Gopaldas ‘Neeraj’ passed away on 19 July 2018. A recipient of the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and three consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Lyricist, he remains one of the most influential figures in Hindi literature, inspiring generations of poets, writers and readers.
