Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, on Thursday, asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party would completely curb infiltration in West Bengal if it forms the state government.
Addressing an election rally in Balagarh in Hooghly district, Shah expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a full majority in the Assembly polls.
“The voting for the first phase is almost over. This is my 30th event across Bengal. On May 4, Didi’s (Mamata Banerjee) game will be up. The BJP will form a government in Bengal with a full majority,” he stated.
Shah reiterated that illegal infiltration was harming Bengal’s economy and posing risks to national security.
“Infiltrators are eating away the jobs of Bengal’s youth and the rations of the poor. They undermine the country’s security. As soon as the BJP comes to power here, not a single infiltrator will be allowed to enter Bengal,” he asserted.
The Minister linked the issue to employment and welfare. He claimed that infiltration impacts opportunities for local youth. It also affects access to resources for the poor.
Shah further targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He accused her of promoting dynastic politics. The Minister also alleged that she is seeking to elevate her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
“The time of Mamata Banerjee is over. The next Chief Minister will be a son of Bengal’s soil who is educated in Bengali medium, who speaks Bengali, and, most importantly, a BJP worker. Earlier, Mamata Banerjee’s supporters used to say that you can campaign as much as you want, but they would not let anyone cast their vote. I want to tell Didi’s supporters that if you touch any voter, you will face strict action,” the Minister noted.
Urging participation in the next phase on April 29, Shah added, “In the elections on April 29, you have to press the button beside the lotus symbol on EVMs. You are not pressing it just to make someone an MLA or to form a government. You are pressing it to free Bengal from infiltrators.”
