Union Home Minister Amit Shah will begin a three-day visit to West Bengal from Monday evening to review the Bharatiya Janata Party’s preparations for the crucial 2026 Assembly elections in the state.
The Home Minister will arrive at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata and immediately convene a closed-door meeting with the BJP’s West Bengal core leadership to assess the party’s organisational readiness.
Sources within the state committee said that Shah will offer inputs on forming the BJP’s state committee and will evaluate the overall strength and coordination of the party’s organisational structure.
He will guide the strategic deployment of leaders and resources to ensure the party is fully prepared to tackle electoral challenges in West Bengal.
Shah is also likely to outline the BJP’s blueprint for addressing sensitive issues related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state.
He will focus on key campaign priorities, highlighting issues that the party intends to bring to the forefront during the 2026 elections.
Shah will brief the state leadership on messaging strategies, voter outreach plans, and the mobilisation of party workers to ensure maximum impact across constituencies.
No Public Rallies During Festive Period
Keeping in mind the festive mood ahead of the New Year celebrations, the Home Minister will not address any public meetings, rallies, or roadshows during his three-day visit.
The approach emphasises strategic review and internal discussions rather than public campaigning at this stage.
On 30 December, Shah will attend a series of scheduled programmes in Kolkata, including an interaction with media personnel, a visit to the ISKCON temple, and a meeting with senior office-bearers at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in the city.
These engagements aim to reinforce party coordination and strengthen organisational links at the grassroots level.
On the final day of his visit, 31 December, Amit Shah will address a BJP workers’ conference in Kolkata, intended to boost morale and energise party cadres ahead of the Assembly elections.
The session will provide direction and motivate the party workforce while emphasising the importance of cohesive campaigning.
Following the conference, Shah will depart for New Delhi later on 31 December, concluding his three-day visit focused on electoral strategy and party organisation in West Bengal.
