Amit Shah To Visit Punjab On October 20, Ravneet Singh Bittu Announces

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Punjab on October 20, BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu announced on Sunday.

Shah last visited the state on September 30, when he addressed an anti-drug rally in Jalandhar.

Taking to X, Bittu posted, “Punjab welcomes Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji on his visit to Punjab on 20th October. At a time when Punjab is battling the grave menace of drugs, we need decisive action, strong leadership and a firm resolve to secure our youth and our future.”

Bittu criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the drug menace and urged people to support Shah’s campaign for a drug-free Punjab.

“Let us unite to save Punjab’s youth and reclaim Punjab’s future!” he added.

Shah’s visit comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. He is likely to discuss the BJP’s organisational strategy and poll preparations.

The Minister may visit Mansa to meet the family of anti-drug activist Parwinder Singh Jhota.

Earlier this week, Shah questioned the Bhagwant Mann-led government over alleged drug trafficking, gangsterism and organised crime.

The Minister cited incidents in Dirba and Mansa, saying they raised concerns about public safety and the state’s law-and-order situation. He said the Union Home Ministry would seek responses from the Punjab government.

During his September 30 rally, Shah promised to eliminate the illicit ‘chitta’ trade before December 31, 2029. He said the BJP would make a drug-free Punjab its principal election issue and urged mothers and young people to support the party by voting for its lotus symbol.
