Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Punjab on Tuesday to meet families of people allegedly killed for opposing drug peddlers.
The visit comes amid a political row over drug abuse and the AAP government’s alleged failure to curb it.
Shah will meet the bereaved families in Mansa, Sangrur and Gurdaspur, according to his announcement on X on Sunday.
The Home Minister accused the AAP government of worsening Punjab’s drug problem and said the crisis had forced numerous families to lose their children. He further expressed solidarity with the affected families and asserted that attempts to silence those opposing the drug trade would not succeed.
Shah said he believed the people of Punjab would respond strongly to the issue.
