Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone on Sunday for two major flyovers in Ahmedabad’s western region.
These high-impact projects are part of a ₹379 crore initiative by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to tackle rising traffic congestion and streamline daily commuting for over 1.5 lakh residents.
According to AMC officials, the flyovers will significantly ease movement along key junctions Law Garden to CN Vidyalaya and the stretch parallel to the Chimanbhai Patel Bridge.
Devang Dani, Chairman of AMC’s Standing Committee, confirmed that the authorities will complete both flyovers within 34 months.
The Law Garden-CN Vidyalaya flyover, 770 metres long and costing ₹142.02 crore, will ease congestion at Panchwati Crossroads, Ambawadi Circle, and surrounding areas.

The second and larger project is a three-tier overpass near the Chimanbhai Patel Bridge, with a budget of ₹237.32 crore.
Spanning 2,000 metres, it will link high-traffic areas, including Subhash Bridge, through advanced multi-layer design.
The Indian Railways will construct the section passing over railway tracks, while the AMC will handle the remainder of the structure.
Civic utility space will be integrated beneath the flyover for added infrastructure efficiency.
Dani also noted that recent flyover projects in Ahmedabad—including the current pair—reflect the city’s ongoing commitment to enhancing traffic movement at critical junctions.
Across Gujarat, cities such as Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot are also investing heavily in similar infrastructure upgrades.
Surat has prioritised multi-level flyovers near industrial areas and railway crossings, while Vadodara and Rajkot have introduced targeted overpasses to reduce bottlenecks.
The state government is financing these projects through a blend of municipal funds, central schemes like AMRUT and Smart Cities Mission, and private technical partnerships.
Leading firms such as L&T, Afcons, and IRCON are contributing cutting-edge engineering solutions, including pre-cast segmental construction and noise-reducing materials.
As a result, Gujarat continues to position itself as a frontrunner in urban mobility transformation—blending public policy, modern engineering, and commuter-centric planning.
