Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme-2’ on Tuesday from the India-Pakistan border region near Bikaner in Rajasthan, marking a significant step towards improving infrastructure and connectivity in strategically important border areas.

Under the programme, 184 villages located across Rajasthan’s border districts, including Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer and Sri Ganganagar, will receive priority development.

The initiative aims to improve road connectivity, 4G mobile networks, electricity supply and television access in remote frontier regions.

Amit Shah arrived in Bikaner late on Monday night for a two-day visit focused on border security and rural infrastructure development. He landed at Nal Air Force Station, where Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal welcomed him.

Following his arrival, the Home Minister proceeded to the BSF Headquarters for an overnight stay.

Officials said the visit reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on simplicity and minimal protocol, with Amit Shah travelling in a small VVIP convoy.

After launching the programme, Shah will visit the BSF Border Outpost at Sanchu near the India-Pakistan border, where he will interact with security personnel, review border arrangements and inaugurate welfare schemes for the forces. He will also inspect the border area from a watchtower at the strategically important Sanchu post, which played a key role during the 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan wars.

Later, Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting in Bikaner with officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Rajasthan government, the BSF and the police administration.

BJP leaders and senior officials welcomed the Home Minister on his arrival in Rajasthan.

The visit underlines the Centre’s continued focus on border security, infrastructure and connectivity in frontier villages.
