Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will travel to Gujarat on June 27 and 28 to attend two major government programmes centred on cooperative development and digital public welfare.
As per the official schedule, Shah will launch the Bharat Taxi initiative at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar on Friday.
The Ministry of Cooperation has developed the project to promote cooperative-led transport services across the country.
Drivers own the Bharat Taxi platform instead of private aggregators, positioning it as a driver-led ride-hailing service.
Under its zero-commission framework, drivers will keep their fare earnings and also receive a share of the platform’s profits.
Passengers will be able to book taxis, auto-rickshaws, and two-wheelers through the service.
Authorities have introduced the platform in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat before expanding it nationwide over the next two to three years.
Speaking at the national launch earlier this year, Shah said the government plans to expand Bharat Taxi across the country. He said the service will eventually operate from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Dwarka to Kamakhya.
The Minister added that the cooperative model would ensure greater financial benefits for drivers.
On the second day of his Gujarat visit, Shah will inaugurate the PM Family Care Tracker Pilot Project at the Town Hall in Gandhinagar.
The event will officially launch the pilot phase. Officials will then evaluate the project for wider implementation.
The event will formally launch the pilot programme, which could later be expanded to other regions based on its performance.
Shah’s latest Gujarat visit follows his participation in the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations in Ahmedabad on June 21.
This year’s observance adopted the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’.
After the event, Shah said yoga remains India’s timeless gift to the world, helping people achieve physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
During the same visit, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel led the state-level Yoga Day celebrations in Mansa, while similar events were taking place across Gujarat.
