Amit Shah To Launch Ahmedabad’s Mission Five Million Trees Campaign

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will spearhead Ahmedabad’s large-scale tree plantation initiative on Sunday by launching the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Mission Five Million Trees campaign.

During the same visit, Shah will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for civic development works estimated at ₹405 crore.

The programme combines environmental conservation with major urban infrastructure development.

Shah will commence his engagements at 08:30 AM at the Science Dome in Science City, Sola, where he will officially flag off the city-wide plantation mission.

The campaign aims to significantly increase Ahmedabad’s green cover through active public participation and community-led plantation efforts.

The ceremony will also feature the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), and the Roads and Buildings Department inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for several public infrastructure projects.

The authorities will unveil civic projects worth nearly ₹405 crore during the event to improve Ahmedabad’s public infrastructure and strengthen essential urban services. These projects will enhance the city’s long-term development and improve civic amenities for residents.

Following the launch programme, Shah will visit several locations across Ahmedabad to take part in plantation drives organised under the Mission Five Million Trees campaign. His first stop will be in Thaltej Ward within the Ghatlodia Assembly constituency before proceeding to Sarkhej Ward in the Vejalpur Assembly constituency near Applewood on SP Ring Road, Bopal.

The final plantation event of the morning will take place in Stadium Ward of the Naranpura Assembly constituency at the NDDB plot opposite the Wadaj BRTS corridor near Gandhi Ashram.

The Mission Five Million Trees initiative has been designed to encourage mass participation in increasing Ahmedabad’s urban greenery.
