Amit Shah To Inaugurate New Madhur Dairy Processing Plant In Gujarat

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate a newly constructed automated milk processing and packaging plant of Madhur Dairy in Dashela village of Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district on Sunday.

The project marks a major expansion in the district’s cooperative dairy sector and aims to strengthen infrastructure for milk producers and consumers alike.

Developed by the Gandhinagar District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited at an estimated cost of Rs 128 crore, the new facility has the capacity to process 2.5 lakh litres of milk per day, with future expansion planned up to 5 lakh litres daily.

The new facility will raise Madhur Dairy’s milk processing capacity to 5 lakh litres per day, making it the largest cooperative milk union in Gandhinagar district.

Senior leaders, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, will attend the inauguration ceremony.

Officials said the expansion will help dairy farmers by improving milk processing, ensuring better returns and increasing production of Amul dairy products through GCMMF.

Founded in 1971 with just four milk societies, Madhur Dairy has steadily expanded while supporting dairy farmers and supplying affordable milk products to consumers.

Over the decades, procurement has grown steadily and currently averages 2.76 lakh litres daily during 2025-26.

Madhur Dairy has also witnessed remarkable financial growth. Starting with an annual turnover of nearly Rs 7 lakh, the cooperative’s turnover has now increased to approximately Rs 628 crore due to continuous expansion, infrastructure development and growing consumer trust.

Officials added that the dairy has undertaken several expansion initiatives in recent years as part of its long-term strategy to improve dairy infrastructure and enhance economic prosperity for milk producers across Gandhinagar district.
