Amit Shah To Inaugurate; Launch 30 Gujarat Projects Worth Rs 1,024 Crore On November 9

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 30 development projects worth Rs 1,024 crore in his Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency on November 9.

The projects will cover housing, water infrastructure and other civic amenities. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Standing Committee Chairman Kamlesh Patel announced the development on Thursday after the civic body’s weekly Standing Committee meeting.

Patel said the projects aim to strengthen infrastructure and improve civic facilities across the constituency.

He also outlined the AMC’s preparations for Diwali, particularly its plans to manage firecracker waste and prevent fire-related emergencies.

The civic body will deploy sanitation teams to collect and clear firecracker waste from roads during the night to keep streets clean throughout the day, Patel said.

The fire brigade will remain on high alert throughout the festive period, with personnel ready to respond to emergencies. Municipal hospital staff will also remain on standby to provide immediate medical assistance in case of any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, the AMC is preparing to introduce two indigenous toy trains at Kankaria Lake during the Diwali festivities.

The existing toy train, popularly known as Atal Express, began operations in 2008. The civic body had imported the train at a cost of around Rs 8 crore, Patel said.

The AMC has now procured two locally manufactured trains using indigenous technology at a combined cost of Rs 3.59 crore. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’.

Both trains have completed trial runs. However, the AMC must complete police verification and other formalities before introducing them for visitors.
