Amit Shah To Host Gujarati New Year Celebrations At Ahmedabad Residence

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will host New Year festivities at his Ahmedabad residence on 22 October.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will host festive gatherings at his Ahmedabad residence on 22 October to commemorate the Gujarati New Year.

The celebration will include customary rituals and the exchange of greetings with visitors, who are likely to meet Shah at Royal Crescent Bungalows between 9 AM and 10.30 AM.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will join the Home Minister during the public Diwali festivities, which coincide with Shah’s birthday, lending the occasion both cultural and personal significance.

Born in 1964, Shah is regarded as a key strategist of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a close associate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has been instrumental in shaping the party’s national expansion and organisational structure.

Across Gujarat and other parts of India, BJP workers and supporters are marking his birthday with community service, blood donation drives, and cultural events.

The Gujarati New Year, or Bestu Varas, celebrated a day after Diwali, heralds the start of the Vikram Samvat calendar.

The festival, however, embodies themes of renewal, prosperity, and fresh beginnings.

Inauguration of New MLA Quarters

On 23 October, Shah is likely to inaugurate the newly built MLA quarters in Sector-17, Gandhinagar.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 220 crore, the complex replaces the old legislators’ housing facility and comprises 216 air-conditioned 4BHK flats arranged across 12 towers, each nine storeys high.

The project, launched in 2021, covers an area exceeding 28,000 square metres.

Each unit includes two master bedrooms, two additional rooms, a kitchen, dining area, waiting space, and an office, along with a separate staff room.

The premises also feature landscaped gardens, a community hall, an auditorium, a health club, a canteen, and recreational spaces for children and senior citizens.

Authorities have, however, made extensive security and administrative preparations for the occasion, which coincides with Bhai Bij, the concluding day of the Diwali celebrations that symbolises renewal and fraternity.
