Union Home Minister Amit Shah will commence a fresh phase of electioneering in Assam with a prominent roadshow in Guwahati on Saturday. The initiative forms part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s intensified campaign ahead of the Assembly elections.
Shah will arrive in Guwahati in the evening and participate in a roadshow backing BJP candidate Vijay Gupta from the Guwahati Central constituency.
The procession will begin at Arya Vidyapeeth Playground and traverse key routes to galvanise urban voters.
The Minister will also convene meetings with party leaders and office-bearers to assess electoral preparedness and reinforce booth-level strategies.
On Sunday, Shah will visit Sonitpur district to address a public gathering at Dhekiajuli Tea Estate in support of minister Ashok Singhal. He will then proceed to Tihu in Nalbari district to campaign for senior minister Chandramohan Patowary, concluding his two-day tour.
Party sources indicated that the visit aligns with a broader strategy to consolidate support across Upper and Lower Assam.
Shah is scheduled to return on April 2 to campaign in the Barak Valley. He will address rallies in Sribhumi for minister Krishnendu Paul and in Silchar for former MP Rajdeep Roy.
Polling for the 126-member Assembly will take place on April 9, with results due on May 4.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also visit Assam on April 1. He will address rallies in Bihpuria, Lakhimpur, and Gohpur to energise party workers and strengthen voter outreach.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri @AmitShah will hold a Road Show in Guwahati, Assam on 28th March 2026.
