Union Home Minister Amit Shah will deliver the keynote address at the National Conference on Tackling Cyber-Enabled Frauds and Dismantling the Ecosystem in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation, in partnership with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is organising the two-day conference at Bharat Mandapam from February 10 to 11.
During the inaugural session, Shah will also conduct an investiture ceremony for CBI officers.
As part of the event, the Home Minister will inaugurate the newly established Cybercrime Branch of the CBI and launch the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre Dashboard developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre.
These initiatives mark a strengthened institutional response to the growing challenge posed by cyber-enabled crime in the country.
The conference comes at a time when India is witnessing rapid digital expansion under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While digital banking, governance, and communication platforms have improved access and convenience, they have also created vulnerabilities that organised cybercriminal networks continue to exploit.
Focus on Scale and Patterns of Cyber Fraud
Financial losses linked to cyber fraud are projected to reach alarming levels, with phishing scams, fake investment schemes, mule accounts and digital arrest tactics inflicting widespread damage.
The conference aims to develop a shared understanding of the scale, trends and evolving patterns of cyber-enabled fraud across India.
Deliberations will focus on three core components of the fraud ecosystem: the financial channel involving mule accounts and money laundering, the telecom channel involving misuse of SIM cards and related infrastructure, and the human dimension, including cyber slavery and trafficking linked to overseas scam operations.
Participants will discuss prevention strategies, advanced investigation methods, and the use of technologies such as artificial intelligence and data analytics.
The discussions will also emphasise inter-agency coordination, public–private partnerships, faster reporting, real-time fund tracking, digital evidence preservation and enhanced victim support.
The conference brings together senior officials from law enforcement agencies, regulators, banks, fintech firms, telecom operators, technology platforms, cybersecurity experts, and international partners, reflecting a comprehensive approach to counter cyber threats.
