On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah intensified his attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, asserting that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is on her way out of power.
Speaking during an election rally, Shah expressed confidence that the political ground is shifting in the state. He suggested that public trust in the current leadership is declining and indicated that law enforcement would take action against criminal elements.
The remarks came as Shah continued to target the state government over issues of law and order and alleged political violence. He positioned the BJP as a stronger and more decisive alternative for governance in West Bengal, signalling the party’s aggressive campaign strategy ahead of elections.
Earlier, addressing a rally at Tehatta in Nadia district, Shah also criticised Mamata Banerjee and the Congress party, accusing them of being lenient on terrorism. He contrasted their record with that of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, highlighting actions taken in response to terror attacks since 2014, including surgical strikes and air strikes.
Shah further stated that if voted to power, a BJP government in West Bengal would take strict action against infiltration and illegal immigration. He said infiltrators would be identified and removed, and emphasised that electoral rolls would be cleaned up as part of the process.
Additionally, the Minister announced the formation of a special squad to protect cattle and curb cow smuggling in the state.
Reinforcing his broader political message, Shah claimed that the BJP has already freed the country from Naxalism and would bring similar changes to West Bengal if elected.
