Following the meeting, Gor said on X that he had an excellent interaction with Amit Shah and that both sides held fruitful discussions on enhancing collaboration to combat terrorism, protecting citizens from narcotics and illicit drugs, securing borders and ensuring criminals are brought to justice in both nations.

The meeting comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) Summit in Evian, France.

During the interaction, the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation across trade, energy, defence, technology and people-to-people ties.

In a post on the social media platform, PM Modi said he was happy to meet Trump and noted that they reviewed sustained progress in bilateral cooperation. He also conveyed India’s appreciation for efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in West Asia, highlighting the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for the global economy and ensuring the safety and security of civilians, including seafarers.

Last month, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during his visit to India, described India as one of the most important strategic partners of the United States. He noted that both countries share strategic alignment on critical minerals, supply chains and counterterrorism.

Addressing a joint press briefing with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Rubio said India and the US have both suffered from global terrorist networks and stressed that there is strong counter-terrorism alignment between the two democracies.
