Amit Shah Says BJP Government In Bengal Handed Border Land To BSF Within Seven Days

HM Amit Shah on Thursday announced that the newly formed Bharatiya Janata Party government in West Bengal transferred 600 hectares of land to the Border Security Force within seven days to intensify fencing operations along the Bangladesh border.

Shah addressed a public gathering in Sonipur village of Gandhinagar district. He attended the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony for projects worth Rs 340 crore and said the BJP fulfilled its border security promise.

The Union Home Minister recalled that the BJP had promised swift fencing work during the election campaign if voters entrusted the party with governance in Bengal.

Congratulating Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Shah praised the administration for rapidly handing over the land to the BSF. He also revealed that authorities transferred an additional 121 hectares in the strategically important Chicken Neck corridor to the Central government.

Shah linked the initiative to the BJP’s broader national security agenda and claimed infiltration along the Bangladesh border had declined following the political transition in Bengal. He alleged that infiltration occurred regularly during the previous administration led by Mamata Banerjee, but asserted that the situation had now changed significantly.

While highlighting the BJP’s growing political influence nationwide, Shah said the party currently governs nearly 80 per cent of India’s geographical territory.

Referring to the recent Assembly elections in Bengal, the Minister claimed the BJP decisively defeated the Trinamool Congress-led government.

The Home Minister also remarked that the BJP’s saffron flag now symbolically stretches across the Ganga belt from Uttarakhand to Gangasagar.

During his Gandhinagar visit, Shah inaugurated drinking water projects, beautified Anganwadi centres, and village development works. He said authorities launched or inaugurated projects worth Rs 1,200 crore in Kalol and Gandhinagar North constituencies during the past 10 days.
