Amit Shah Remembers Ashok Singhal; Hails His Lifelong Service To Nation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to former international president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Ashok Singhal on his birth anniversary, remembering him for his simplicity, religious devotion and lifelong dedication to the nation.

In a post on social media, Shah described Singhal as a figure who dedicated his life to the nation, culture and ideology while giving up personal comforts. He said such selfless commitment was rarely seen.

Shah recalled Singhal’s contribution to several major movements and described his struggle and dedication as an enduring source of guidance.

He specifically highlighted Singhal’s opposition to the Emergency and his role in advancing the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Singhal served as the VHP’s international president and played a prominent role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Shah said people would continue to remember his efforts and commitment.

The Home Minister also highlighted Singhal’s personal values, portraying him as a leader who placed national and cultural causes above personal interests.

His tribute focused on the former VHP leader’s commitment to public life and his long association with religious and cultural causes.

Shah’s remarks came as leaders and organisations remembered Singhal on his birth anniversary, recalling his decades-long public life and involvement in movements connected with Hindu religious and cultural issues.

Singhal remained a prominent VHP figure for several decades and played a significant role during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He died in November 2015 at the age of 89.

Through his tribute, Shah recalled Singhal’s contribution to the Emergency-era resistance and the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, while highlighting the values of simplicity, sacrifice and service that he associated with the former VHP leader.
