As election campaigning gathers momentum in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, authorities have heightened security at the airport ahead of the arrival of Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi in Chennai tomorrow.
According to officials, Amit Shah will arrive at around 3:15 PM from Kochi by private aircraft.
He will then board a helicopter shortly after landing and head to Puducherry to campaign for candidates of the National Democratic Alliance, as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s intensified outreach.
After completing his engagements, Shah will return to Chennai by evening and is expected to spend time at the VIP lounge of the airport.
During this period, senior BJP leaders from Tamil Nadu will meet him to discuss campaign strategy before he departs for New Delhi later in the day.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi will arrive earlier at around 10:00 AM from New Delhi. Senior leaders of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee will receive him at the airport.
He will hold a closed-door meeting with party leaders at the VIP lounge to review campaign plans ahead of the crucial polls.
Gandhi will then travel to Puducherry in a smaller aircraft to campaign for Congress and alliance candidates.
His return schedule to Chennai remains unconfirmed, suggesting he may continue his engagements in the region.
With both leaders passing through the airport on the same day, authorities have significantly strengthened security measures.
Officials have conducted an emergency coordination meeting to review protocols, regulate VIP access, and ensure smooth movement within the airport.
The back-to-back visits of these prominent leaders highlight the high-stakes nature of the ongoing election campaign, as major parties intensify their final outreach efforts ahead of polling.
