Amit Shah Pays Tribute To India’s Workers On Labour Day; Reaffirms Government’s Commitment To Their Welfare

Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked Labour Day by honouring the vital role of India’s workforce in nation-building.

In a tweet on the social media platform, Shah extended his best wishes to all labourers, calling them the ‘strong pillars of nation-building’.

Taking to X, Shah posted, “Shramev Jayate! Heartfelt greetings to all our hardworking brothers and sisters on International Labour Day – the strong pillars of nation-building.”

“Through their tireless dedication, workers are not only simplifying the lives of our citizens but also driving the nation’s economy forward, playing a key role in shaping the vision of a developed India,” the post further added.

He further noted, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, all BJP-led governments remain committed to the welfare and prosperity of every worker.”

Shah’s message echoed the broader sentiment of recognising the indispensable role of labourers in India’s socio-economic fabric.

Labour Day & The Role Of Indian Workers

Labour Day, observed globally on 1st May, celebrates the rights and contributions of the working class.

In India, it underscores the resilience and daily efforts of millions driving sectors like agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and services.

Union Minister Amit Shah’s tribute highlighted this enduring spirit.

His remarks underscored the government’s appreciation of those who often remain unseen yet power the nation’s growth.

Commitment To Labour Welfare

Over the past decade, the Modi government has implemented several initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of labourers.

These include the e-Shram portal, a national database for unorganised workers, and the Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, which offers pensions to informal sector workers.

The government has prioritised safety, fair wages, and social security for unorganised workers like vendors and domestic helpers.

Shah’s message aligns with the broader national objective of creating a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

As India targets a $5 trillion economy, labour welfare remains key to inclusive and equitable growth.
