Amit Shah Pays Tribute To Ashok Singhal On His Birth Anniversary

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to former Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international president Ashok Singhal on his birth anniversary, remembering him as a symbol of simplicity, religious devotion and selfless service.

In a social media post, Shah said Singhal renounced personal comforts and dedicated his life to the nation, culture and ideology. He further described such commitment as rarely seen.

Shah recalled Singhal’s role in major movements and said his struggle and dedication would continue to serve as a source of guidance. He particularly highlighted Singhal’s opposition to the Emergency and his contribution to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

“From raising his voice against the Emergency to accelerating the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement, his struggle and dedication will forever serve as guidance,” Shah said.

Ashok Singhal served as the VHP’s international president and remained a prominent figure in the organisation for several decades. He played a significant role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and actively supported Hindu religious and cultural causes.

Singhal public life spanned several decades, during which he was involved in the VHP and various movements linked to Hindu religious and cultural issues. He emerged as a prominent voice in the resistance to the Emergency.

Ashok Singhal died in November 2015 at the age of 89. On his birth anniversary, people remembered him for the simplicity, sacrifice, and service that defined his public life, along with his contributions to the Emergency-era resistance and the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
